QUALIFICATION CHANGE – EFFECTIVE ROUND 8 (TOMORROW SATURDAY 16 JUNE 2018)
Players will NO longer be required to sign the back of the scoresheet. In order for a player to receive a qualification game, their full name and uniform number will need to be on the front of the scoresheet (either printed or written on).
If a player is not playing and their name is printed on the scoresheet, it will be the job of those on the score bench to clearly put a line through the player’s name and number, indicating that they did NOT participate in the game, and therefore should NOT get a qualification for that game.
If a player has been crossed off, and they arrive at the game late, their name and number needs to be added (re-written) onto the front of the scoresheet before they take the court.
At the end of the game, before the scoresheet is signed by the referee(s), it must be complete:
- with those players that did NOT play crossed off; and
- players and their uniform numbers added, where applicable.
NOTE:
If a player is in uniform and is able to play, even if they do NOT get on the court (e.g. coaches decision), their name and number should be on the scoresheet.
Only players who are not at the game, or not able to play (e.g. came to the game injured), or are not in uniform, should be crossed off.
NEW PLAYERS/FILL-IN PLAYERS
If a player’s name is not pre-printed on the front of the scoresheet and they have not been previously registered to your team (on the back of the scoresheet) then you will need to complete the new player section on the back of the scoresheet. The player is required to sign this section.
PLAYER INJURED PRIOR TO THE GAME
If a player comes to the game injured (not injured during the game) and is unable to participate in the game, they should be crossed off the scoresheet.
If they lodge a medical certificate and comply with the bylaws (submitted within 21 days of injury), they will get qualifying games for the games covered by the medical certificate.
SCORERS
The persons fulfilling score-bench duties are reminded that they are deemed to be officials for the duration of the game and should behave in a manner expected of game officials (fair, un-biased etc – Refer to Basketball Victoria code of conduct BV Codes of Conduct).
Scorers should be reasonable and respectful in their approach to confirming which players are noted at being at the game or not. Any issue or dispute in the matter will ultimately be decided by the referees of the game.
